Abstract

Economic goals. such as costs. are some of the main reasons why
companies make changes to their products. To maintain external diversity while reducing internal diversity. modularization is an obvious approach. Therefore. the literature offers a wide range of methods. This paper presents an approach to examine common modularization methods in terms of their impact on
economic goals and to correlate this information. In a first step. the various data required to solve this task are linked to each other in a consistent data model. The aim is to create a model-based knowledge base that also indi-cates the need for action in the development of new methods.
